Application Process
Required Materials
$50 non-refundable application fee
Official transcript from all institutions attended with a minimum final grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale in your bachelor's degree
Documentation of a degree in biology, chemistry, geological sciences or closely related field (for license candidates in Biology 8 鈥12, Chemistry 8-12, Earth Science 8-12, respectively) or a transcript evaluation by the program coordinator (for General Science 5 鈥 8 and Mathematics/Science 5-8 candidates). Please consult with the program coordinator if you do not hold a degree in a field related to your desired licensure area.
A course in adolescent psychology (undergraduate or graduate). Please consult with the program coordinator if you have not taken this course or if you have questions about whether a related course on your transcript can count toward this requirement.
If you attended an institution outside of the United States, a transcript evaluation from one of our approved agencies is required.
If your undergraduate final grade point average falls below the minimum stated, please contact Graduate Admissions.
Two references
Statement of purpose, addressing your interest in teaching at the secondary level (grades 8-12 and/or grades 5-8) and any teaching experience (formal or informal) that you have
Copy of educator license, demonstrating that applicant holds at least a provisional or preliminary teaching license.
If no educator license is held, applicant must provide documentation that confirms registration for the required licensure tests: Communication & Literacy MTEL and relevant subject matter MTEL. Passing scores on both tests are required for program progression.
English Proficiency, if applicable for international applicants

The licensure only, teacher of secondary science program does not support international students in f or j status due to program modality and/or part-time status. Please contact graduate admissions to verify which programs are suitable.
